Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium Renamed, Partners with Uniqlo for Stadium Naming Rights

In its 64th year of opening to fans, the Dodgers' home stadium has officially been known as Dodger Stadium. This historic name will not disappear, but starting in 2026, it will become slightly longer.

Just before this year's Dodgers home opener, "Dodger Stadium Uniqlo Park" was officially unveiled. Dodgers executives and leaders from Japanese retail giant Uniqlo jointly announced a new partnership, with the latter securing naming rights for the former's stadium venue.

Uniqlo was represented by founder and chairman Tadashi Yanai, executives Kazuki Tsukada and Yasuharu Yanai, while the Dodgers were represented by owner and chairman Mark Walter, president and CEO Stan Kasten, and manager Dave Roberts.

Kasten stated: "Many excellent people from both sides have worked very hard on this for a long time. I believe we are each leaders in our respective industries: the world champion Dodgers, and of course the globally renowned Uniqlo brand. As Mr. Yanai mentioned to me earlier, we both aim to be number one in the world, and that is the common ground for our collaboration."

Kasten then presented Tadashi Yanai with a signed home plate by the entire Dodgers team, saying, "This symbolizes that this will become his new home."

This partnership marks Uniqlo's first major sports collaboration in the United States. The company understood the significance of the name "Dodger Stadium" to the people of Los Angeles when reaching the agreement and does not intend to erase it entirely.

"Dodger Stadium has been beloved by fans for decades, and we must respect that history while showcasing our partnership with the Dodgers," said Yasuharu Yanai of Uniqlo's parent company Fast Retailing, who specializes in sports collaborations. "The name 'Dodger Stadium Uniqlo Park' might be new to everyone, but I hope fans will like and embrace it in the near future."

The new name will be displayed around the stadium: along the baselines, inside the seating area below the media section, and on newly installed signage above the batter's backdrop unveiled during Wednesday's event. A reporter then posed a question: if a player hits a ball onto the Uniqlo signage, would they receive any prize?

"That's a brilliant idea," said Uniqlo founder and chairman Tadashi Yanai via translator, "We will definitely consider that suggestion."

"We also love that idea," Kasten added.

Uniqlo will host events at the stadium later this season, giving away products from its LifeWear line. They will also set up dedicated areas in selected stores in the Los Angeles region to showcase the partnership with the Dodgers.

The collaboration extends beyond the stadium itself. The Dodgers and Uniqlo will jointly develop programs to benefit the Los Angeles community, with details to be announced later.

"Bringing together diverse perspectives and values is precisely your strength and advantage," said Tadashi Yanai, "That is exactly what the Dodgers and Los Angeles possess. We are thrilled to join this family and explore endless possibilities and opportunities to make the world a better place."

The Dodgers have long had influence in Japan, leading them to sign many outstanding Japanese players, from Hideo Nomo to current stars Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki. Early groundwork made the Dodgers a desired destination for Japanese players. Now, Uniqlo, already a global brand, intends to establish roots in Los Angeles with similar aspirations.
