Expert Analysis on the Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Battle: Knicks and Cavaliers Favored, Teams Like Rockets Expected to Gradually Fall Out

On March 30 Beijing time, NBA columnist Gozberry revealed in a podcast program that the Knicks remain one of the teams interested in acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo via trade. Despite being one of the top-tier teams in the Eastern Conference this season, they have not withdrawn from the trade discussions surrounding Giannis.

Gozberry stated: "Initially, 16 teams felt they had a chance, but within two weeks, eight will drop out. I believe teams like the Rockets and Magic will gradually fall out, while the Knicks and Cavaliers are the group I favor."

The Knicks absolutely should continue pursuing Giannis, especially after recent struggles against the Charlotte Hornets exposed clear issues with Towns' physicality and intensity.

The Knicks' team-building philosophy is to contend for a championship immediately. They cannot afford to wait and see if Towns can develop the dominant interior presence required for a title run, nor can they wait for all roster pieces to perfectly align and march straight to the Finals.

Giannis is now 31 years old and may no longer be the all-around game-destroying monster he once was, but he still averages 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game with a shooting percentage of 62.4%. Although his partnership with Lillard in Milwaukee has raised doubts, causing concerns about his ability to coexist with other stars, the Knicks still have ample reasons to explore this trade.

Giannis would immediately boost the team's interior scoring, providing consistent and stable dominance in the paint. More importantly, he would significantly upgrade the defense. Crucially, he would become another powerful offensive weapon, helping the Knicks overcome opponents like the Cavaliers, Celtics, and Pistons to chase the championship trophy that has eluded the franchise since 1973.

The Cavaliers lack the headline buzz of the Knicks but can offer a more balanced and easily manageable package of assets, fitting precisely with the Bucks' transition needs. The Cavaliers have proven All-Star caliber players as well as young foundational pieces who could flourish quickly in a new environment.

Offering a top young All-Star (Mobley) or a pair of ready-to-play starters would allow the Bucks to maintain competitiveness on the court while giving the Cavaliers a transformative superstar who could redefine the team's ceiling. Previous reports also suggested that Harden and Mitchell would recruit LeBron James to join the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers currently face tight salary cap constraints; clearing large contracts via a three-team trade could create the necessary space to facilitate this blockbuster deal.

Where do you think Giannis will ultimately land? Feel free to share your views in the comments.
