Alexander Isak is nearing his comeback after a long-term injury, bringing significant hope to Liverpool during the crucial phase of the season.
Alexander Isak is very close to returning after a long-term injury, providing a major boost to Liverpool's ambitions in the decisive stage of the season.
According to manager Arne Slot, the Swedish striker is likely to feature in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain on April 8th. This is great news for the "Red Brigade," as Isak has been sidelined since late December due to a broken leg and has not yet resumed full training with the first team.
Nevertheless, Slot also expressed caution regarding the availability of the record-breaking £125 million signing. He admitted that Isak is unlikely to reach peak condition immediately: "He will be ready, but what level of 'ready' is another story. If you expect Isak to perform as he did a year ago, I have some doubts. After many months out, he needs time. But I believe I can use him for a certain period."
In fact, Isak has not even had a full training session with his teammates since recovering. This forces Liverpool's coaching staff to carefully plan to avoid the risk of re-injury. Slot emphasized that rushing the process is impossible, especially for a player returning from a serious injury.
However, Isak's appearance, even from the bench, is considered a huge "mental boost" for Liverpool. This season, the Anfield side has often created many chances but lacked a sufficiently sharp striker to convert them into goals.
The Dutch manager also couldn't hide his expectations: "I'm as excited as the fans about his return. In most matches, we create more chances than our opponents. If one of the world's best forwards were on the pitch, perhaps we would have earned more points."
Currently, Liverpool will face Brighton in the Premier League while sitting 5th in the standings. However, all eyes are on Isak's comeback—a factor that could determine the success or failure of the "Red Brigade" in the season's final stretch.
