This marks the first instance in Vietnam's football history of a player emerging from the renowned La Masia training ground.
For the first time ever, the Vietnam national team welcomes a player who was nurtured at the famed La Masia academy – the cradle that has produced numerous Barcelona legends. The arrival of Hendrio Araujo, also known by his Vietnamese name Đỗ Hoàng Hên, signifies a special milestone, opening new expectations for Vietnamese football on its path of integration and elevating squad quality.
Hendrio Araujo spent four years training at La Masia – the world's top youth development environment, renowned for its philosophy of possession football and refined individual technique. Beyond just training, he also wore the Barcelona U16 jersey, participated in youth tournaments in Spain, accumulating valuable competitive experience in a demanding environment.
After his development period in Europe, Hoàng Hên began a journey across various football landscapes before deciding to join V.League starting from the 2021/2022 season. This is seen as a crucial turning point, giving him the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities and gradually establish his reputation within Vietnamese football.
Over more than five years competing in V.League, the Brazilian-origin forward has shown considerable consistency in performance and adaptability to the domestic style of play. Thanks to his technically solid foundation and modern tactical understanding, Hoàng Hên has consistently been a dangerous attacking spearhead and frequently creates decisive moments.
Being called up to the Vietnam national team is a deserved reward for this player's relentless efforts. He is expected to become a "strategic asset," bringing differentiation through his individual skills, ability to handle the ball in tight spaces, and international match experience accumulated from a very young age.
Speaking to the media, Đỗ Hoàng Hên could not hide his emotion and pride when first wearing the Vietnam national team jersey. He said he had waited for this opportunity for a long time and is always ready to give his utmost. “I am very happy and proud to wear the Vietnam team shirt. I love Vietnam and will strive to perform well for the flag and colors,” he affirmed.
