On March 22 afternoon, the Vietnamese U23 national team, consisting of 34 members including 25 players, led by head coach Dinh Hong Vinh, departed to participate in the CFA Team China International Football Tournament – Xi'an 2026.
In this training camp, the team's lineup combines established talents who have proven their abilities in youth national teams over recent periods with many new promising players.
This clearly continues the trend of youth development, with the core being players born between 2005 and 2007, aligning with the long-term plan of the Vietnam Football Federation to build a succession force for the national team and prepare personnel for important tasks in 2026, especially the Asian Games taking place in September.
According to the travel itinerary, the Vietnamese U23 national team will fly from Hanoi to Guangzhou, then connect to Xi'an on the same evening. The entire team is expected to arrive in Xi'an early morning on March 23 local time, then quickly settle into accommodation and begin the first training session to adapt to the weather and field conditions.
At the CFA Team China – Xi'an 2026 tournament, Vietnam U23 will successively face North Korea U23 (March 25), Thailand U23 (March 28), and host China U23 (March 31). Coach Dinh Hong Vinh stated that with the participation of high-quality opponents, this tournament is considered a valuable opportunity for young players to accumulate international match experience, while also helping the coaching staff continue to evaluate and refine the squad towards the key objectives of Vietnamese football in the coming period.
