The Vietnam U23 team arrived in Xi'an (China) early this morning (March 23), following a journey from Hanoi with a transit point in Guangzhou.
According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), at Xi'an airport, the team under Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh was warmly received by the host organizers, facilitating smooth transfer to their accommodation.
The whole team took the opportunity to rest and recover physically after the overnight flight, preparing to begin their first training session this afternoon to acclimatize to the weather and field conditions.
Participating in the CFA Team China International Football Tournament – Xi'an 2026, the Vietnam U23 team will successively face North Korea U23 on March 25, Thailand U23 on March 28, and host China U23 in the final match on March 31.

Regarding the squad participating in this tournament, Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh stated that the Vietnam U23 team gathers many young talents, including established players like Cao Van Binh, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Le Van Thuận, alongside some new U21 players being developed to prepare for the 2026 Asian Games and nurture future successors for Vietnamese football.
Regarding the absence of overseas Vietnamese player Antonio Moric from the list traveling to China, the coaching staff explained this is an adjustment within a pre-planned professional strategy.
Moric, originally part of the national U19 team, was given the opportunity to train with the Vietnam U23 team during the recent gathering to allow the coaching staff to observe and assess his capabilities and adaptability. After this process, the young player returned to the national U19 team to continue training, aiming for objectives aligned with his development pathway.
According to Coach Dinh Hong Vinh, the tournament in Xi'an holds significance not only professionally but also provides a valuable opportunity for young players to accumulate international match experience, gradually mature, and improve themselves.
"This is an occasion for the players to compete against high-quality opponents, thereby enhancing their composure and skill level," Coach Dinh Hong Vinh affirmed.
