Thai U23 Coach: 'The outcome of the match against Vietnam U23 is very important'

On March 23, the Thai U23 team departed for China to participate in a friendly tournament, where they will face the Vietnam U23 team.

Before the trip, Thai U23 coach Thawachai Damrongongtrakun shared: "These are three high-quality matches. China recently achieved a remarkable feat in the Asian tournament. Vietnam recently won the previous SEA Games championship. And teams like North Korea are all strong teams," the Thai strategist assessed.

According to Coach Thawachai, in this tournament, he is giving opportunities to many young players to prepare for the Asian Games 20 in Japan:"This squad has many young players to prepare for the team participating in the Asian Games. Of course, the main squad is not the strongest because many young players like Yosakorn, Seksan, and Ikhlas have been given opportunities in the national team. But we have many young players who have performed well and have been called back. I hope all the young players will perform well and be given the chance to experience the matches."

Further evaluating the upcoming three matches, this strategist shared: "I think all three matches will be difficult. We will try to organize the best possible squad for all three matches. China is both the host and recently the runner-up in the Asian finals. In the match against Vietnam, the result is also very important, but I want the players to gain more experience. I hope Thai football fans will follow and support the team."

According to the schedule, Thai U23 will face the host China U23 team in the opening match on March 25. On March 28, they will confront Vietnam before playing the final match against North Korea on March 31.
