OFFICIAL: Vietnam National Team Achieves Historic Milestone Never Seen Before

Vietnamese football has eight national teams qualifying and participating in the Asian Finals, an unprecedented achievement in history.

With Malaysia being penalized with two losses in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers (deducting 6 points), while the Vietnam National Team also received a ruling for a win and regained 3 points, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad have officially secured a spot in the 2027 Asian Cup Finals one match ahead. The Vietnam National Team now has 15 points while Malaysia only has 9.

This continues to be a series of good news for Vietnamese football, having successfully passed all Asian qualifiers held in 2025 and most recently the 2027 Asian Cup Finals (qualifiers spanning from 2025 to 2026). This is an impressive achievement, a milestone arguably never seen before in Vietnamese football history.

2025 marks a special milestone for Vietnamese football as it is the first time seven national teams have earned qualification for Asian Finals consecutively in 2025 and 2026. This is considered an unprecedented record, signifying the strong and comprehensive development of the nation's football.

The start of this impressive achievement was the Vietnam women's futsal team. Participating in the Asian women's futsal qualifiers in January 2025, the team performed excellently to secure a spot in the Finals held in China in February 2025, also advancing to the quarter-finals.

Following that success, Vietnamese football gained six other national teams participating in the 2026 Asian Finals, including the women's team, men's futsal team, U23 team, women's U20 team, women's U17 team, and men's U17 team. Notably, all six teams that entered the qualifiers earned advancement – a historic achievement demonstrating balanced progress across all levels.

The simultaneous participation of national teams in all 2026 Asian Finals not only affirms Vietnamese football's position on the continental map but also opens valuable opportunities for players to compete against top-tier opponents. This will serve as a crucial foundation for enhancing professional skills and competitive mentality, aiming for greater goals in the future.
