Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh offered motivational words to the Vietnam U23 squad following their draw against North Korea U23.
In the opening match of the CFA Team China 2026 friendly tournament (China), the Vietnam U23 team allowed North Korea U23 to equalize with a 1-1 score. Vietnam U23 scored the opening goal early in the 6th minute of the match. From a quick attacking move, Minh Tâm accurately finished from a narrow angle to put the red-shirted team ahead.
After scoring, Vietnam U23 still created several notable opportunities and controlled the ball better. However, towards the end of the second half, North Korea U23 seized a chance following a breakthrough through the central area, resulting in an equalizing goal for a 1-1 draw.
Sharing after the match, Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh commented: "The experienced players play a very important role, providing support both technically and mentally. On the field, they regulate the tempo, organize the gameplay, and assist in defense.
Off the field, the seasoned players help the new players stabilize psychologically and convey international competition experience. The combination of old and new is precisely the major advantage the team is building."
Beyond just a draw, in this match, Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh tested many positions. Specifically after the first half, the Vietnamese strategist made multiple substitutions by bringing in Đăng Dương, Nguyễn Vadim, and Quang Huy to replace Công Phương, Minh Tâm, and Thành Chung. Later, Quang Vinh and Long Vũ were also introduced to replace Văn Thuận and Bá Đạt.
With the 1-1 draw result, Vietnam U23 is currently ranked 3rd, as in the other match, Thailand U23 drew 2-2 with China (scoring more goals). In the next match on March 28, Vietnam U23 will face Thailand U23 while the host China will confront North Korea.
