Tottenham officially parts ways with Igor Tudor in an attempt to salvage the situation

Tottenham Hotspur Club has officially announced the departure of interim manager Igor Tudor after just 44 days in charge, as the North London team finds itself embroiled in a tense relegation battle in the Premier League.

The decision was made following a heavy 0-3 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest – a direct rival in the relegation race. This is seen as the "final straw" that forced Spurs' leadership to take action to salvage the situation before the season concludes.

In the official announcement, Tottenham confirmed that both parties reached an agreement to terminate the contract immediately. Additionally, assistants including goalkeeping coach Tomislav Rogic and fitness coach Riccardo Ragnacci also left the club. The team expressed gratitude to Tudor and his colleagues for their efforts during the brief period, while also showing sympathy as the Croatian strategist recently experienced a family tragedy.

Tudor was appointed on February 14 after Spurs dismissed Thomas Frank, with hopes of creating an immediate impact. However, reality turned out completely opposite. In 5 Premier League matches, he failed to secure any wins, with 4 losses and only 1 draw. This poor run of results pushed Tottenham down to 17th place with 30 points, just one point above the relegation zone.

Not only disappointing in terms of results, Tudor also faced difficulties in managing the dressing room. Some of his personnel decisions were questioned, notably the substitution of young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky after just 17 minutes in the heavy defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, a competition where Spurs also exited early with an aggregate score of 5-7.

Despite having some positive moments, such as the draw at Liverpool's ground or the honorable victory against Atletico in the return leg, these were insufficient to save Tudor's position. The loss to Forest exposed all the existing problems at Spurs, from a leaky defense to a sluggish playing spirit.

Tottenham has yet to announce a replacement, but several candidates have been mentioned, including Roberto De Zerbi and Sean Dyche. The club's leadership hopes to find a suitable solution quickly during the FIFA Days break to prepare for the final stretch.

Spurs face a challenging schedule ahead with opponents like Sunderland, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. If they do not quickly improve their form, the risk of relegation – something that hasn't happened since 1977 – could very well become a reality for this former "Big Six" club.
