Hot Vietnamese football news today March 30: Vietnam team arrives in Ninh Binh; Malaysia determined to fight for honor

Vietnam national team arrives in Ninh Binh

At 8:00 PM on March 29, the Vietnam national team departed from the Grand Plaza Hotel (Hanoi) and moved to Ninh Binh to prepare for hosting Malaysia. The match will take place at 7:00 PM on March 31 at Thiên Trường Stadium.

In the past two days, Khuất Văn Khang has been absent from training sessions due to injury, but the midfielder from Thể Công Viettel still traveled with the whole team to Ninh Binh.

According to the plan, at 11:00 AM today, head coach Kim Sang Sik along with a player representing the team will attend the pre-match press conference at the Mường Thanh Luxury Phủ Lý hotel. At 5:00 PM, the team will have a familiarization training session at Thiên Trường Stadium.

This match is now merely procedural as Vietnam has already secured a spot for the 2027 Asian Cup, while Malaysia was handed a 0-3 defeat in their two previous matches due to using an ineligible player.

Second Division team handed a 0-3 defeat

Trường Giang Gia Định Club was handed a 0-3 defeat in their match against Tây Ninh in the 2026 National Second Division due to using a player who did not meet eligibility requirements.

According to decision No. 300/QĐ-LĐBĐVN dated March 27 signed by General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú, this team not only received a defeat but was also fined 15 million VND for violating player registration regulations.

The player in violation is midfielder Trần Kỳ Anh (born 2004), who played from the start of the match. Previously, he was among a group of 5 players from Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu Club (now TP.HCM Club) disciplined under VFF's decision No. 91 dated February 27, 2024.

Malaysia coach determined to fight for honor

Malaysia's head coach, Peter Cklamovski, affirmed that the match against Vietnam remains very important even though his team no longer has a chance to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup.

"This match is important for two reasons. First, it can be seen as a match to regain honor. Second, matches like this also have a revenge aspect."

In the upcoming match, Malaysia will not have the services of 7 players banned by FIFA for one year due to document fraud. Additionally, two newly naturalized players are also not eligible to play due to procedural issues.

According to Coach Cklamovski, this is an opportunity for the remaining players to prove their capability: "We cannot underestimate them. Bergson is very sharp in attack, while Gallifuoco is very strong in defense. Their presence creates great competition within the team.

But this time, other players must also prove their ability to secure starting spots and shoulder responsibility in the final match."
