Harry Kewell, coach of Hanoi Club, was present at Malaysia national team's training session on the evening of March 30.
On the evening of March 30, Malaysia held an official training session to familiarize themselves with Thien Truong Stadium, preparing for the match against Vietnam national team on March 31. Besides the quality naturalized players, the training session drew significant attention due to the presence of a coach currently working in V-League.
That person is coach Harry Kewell of Hanoi Club. The former Liverpool forward is a legend of Australian football and has a very good relationship with his compatriot, Malaysia national team head coach Peter Cklamovski. However, Harry Kewell personally attending the training session was quite surprising.
Harry Kewell has a close relationship with Malaysia national team head coach Peter Cklamovski. Both born in 1978, though their playing paths differed, they were both greatly influenced by coach Ange Postecoglou – who led Australia to win the 2015 Asian Cup and later managed prestigious clubs like Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur.
Peter Cklamovski has been associated with Postecoglou since 2012 as an assistant at Melbourne Victory, then continued alongside him at the Australia national team and Japan's Yokohama F.Marinos club. Meanwhile, Harry Kewell also worked with Postecoglou as an assistant at Celtic during 2021–2023. In October 2025, Kewell officially took the head coach position at Hanoi FC and has left positive impressions while leading the capital's team.
It must be said that Hanoi Club is contributing many key players to the Vietnam national team, including the newest naturalized star Hoang Hen. All three goals scored by Vietnam national team in the recent friendly match against Nepal were also scored by Hanoi players: Tuan Hai, Hai Long, and Xuan Manh.
It is unclear whether coach Harry Kewell provided any advice to his close friend Peter Cklamovski regarding his own students at Hanoi Club who are playing for the Vietnam national team. The Malaysia national team also currently has one player competing in V-League: forward Endrick of CA TP HCM Club.
The Malaysia national team still has three reasons to go all out against the Vietnam national team.
The Vietnam national team received extremely good news just before the major clash with Malaysia.
