Vietnam vs Malaysia Starting Lineup: Hoang Hen and Xuan Son Start

Vietnam vs Malaysia Starting Lineup: Naturalized star Do Hoang Hen has been arranged by coach Kim Sang Sik to start alongside Nguyen Xuan Son in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifying match.

Standing in goal is goalkeeper Nguyen Filip. The last time Nguyen Filip started for the Vietnam national team was also against Malaysia, in June 2025.

After that, Nguyen Filip was a substitute or no longer called up to the national team. In the rematch against Malaysia, Nguyen Filip's experience is expected to elevate the team's defense.

In defense, the three center backs selected by coach Kim Sang-sik include Do Duy Manh (captain), Bui Hoang Viet Anh, and Doan Van Hau. After more than three years, Van Hau has returned to the national team's starting lineup. The 1999-born player plays as a left-sided center back. Viet Anh has also regained coach Kim's trust after a period of quiet performance.

On the wings, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh (left) and Truong Tien Anh (right) are familiar faces chosen.

In midfield, Nguyen Hoang Duc will pair up with Nguyen Quang Hai. This duo previously played together in the match against Bangladesh (Vietnam won 3-0). Meanwhile, Nguyen Hai Long, Do Hoang Hen, and Nguyen Xuan Son will form the attacking "trident" in the 3-4-3 formation.

This is also the first time Xuan Son and Hoang Hen both start together for the Vietnam national team.
