Neymar goes berserk at the referee: 'He must be having his period'

Neymar stirs up public opinion after Santos' victory over Remo, openly criticizing the referee with sensitive remarks, facing a wave of fierce backlash.

Star Neymar has become the focus of intense criticism following Santos' 2-0 win against Remo on April 3. The veteran Brazilian forward was dissatisfied with referee Sávio Sampaio's officiating and made a highly controversial reaction after the match.

The incident occurred in the final minutes when Neymar took a free kick. The player made a dummy shot, causing opponent Diego Hernández to lose composure and commit a brutal foul from behind. Neymar immediately reacted and approached referee Sampaio to complain.

However, instead of receiving protection, Neymar was given a yellow card for his reaction. This decision left the 34-year-old striker extremely frustrated. In the post-match interview, he did not hesitate to criticize both the opponent and the referee.

“This is truly unfair. I was fouled brutally from behind, completely unnecessary when the match was nearly over,” Neymar angrily shared.

The former Barcelona player stated this was not the first time he had been targeted with dirty play in this match:“That was already the third or fourth time. I just went over and asked him ‘Are you crazy?’, and then I got a yellow card.”

Notably, Neymar also made a shocking statement when talking about the referee: “That’s how he works. Perhaps he’s menstruating.” This remark quickly sparked a wave of fierce backlash on social media, as many considered it a comment with sexist connotations.

The situation becomes even more sensitive as just a month ago, Red Bull Bragantino defender Gustavo Marques was suspended for up to 12 matches for similar remarks. Currently, Neymar has not received any official punishment, but pressure from public opinion is increasingly mounting.
