Cristiano Ronaldo posted a status update on social media after shining, contributing significantly to Al Nassr's recent victory in the Saudi Pro League.
Cristiano Ronaldo made his 100th appearance in the Saudi Pro League a memorable match. After a brief period of being sidelined due to a hamstring injury which caused him to miss the last three matches, the 41-year-old striker returned to the starting lineup and scored two goals in the second half, helping to break Al Najma's spirit.
The statistics of the Portuguese superstar continue to astonish many despite his age. Ronaldo has now scored 97 goals in 100 Saudi Pro League matches, 39 more than the next highest scorer, Abderrazzaq Hamed-Allah, over the same period. With eight shots and four clear chances created in the match, CR7 further demonstrated his leading role for Al Nassr in the title race.
After the match, the legendary forward expressed his joy on Instagram with the message: “It's great to be back. Let's keep moving forward!”. This message clearly shows the Portuguese superstar's satisfaction after his successful return. The victory at Al-Awwal Park also puts significant pressure on Al Hilal, as this rival is now six points behind ahead of their clash with Al Taawon.
Nevertheless, Al Nassr did not have an easy first half. In the 44th minute, Felippe Cardoso displayed impressive strength before assisting Rakan Al Tulayhi to shoot and score, unexpectedly putting the home team behind. However, they quickly responded with the composure befitting a title contender.
Just before the first half ended, Abdullah Al Hamddan equalized with a smart move and a close-range finish from a lofted ball situation. In the ninth minute of added time, Sadio Mane shone with a solo dribble past three defenders before shooting into the top corner, giving Al Nassr a 2-1 lead.
In the second half, Al Najma leveled the match when Cardoso scored himself from a return pass. However, the balance did not last long. Ronaldo scored from a penalty after the opponent handled the ball in the box, putting Al Nassr ahead.
In the 73rd minute, Ronaldo completed his brace with a close-range finish following a cross, the goal confirmed after VAR intervention. In the 90+5th minute, Mane sealed the 5-2 victory with an easy tap-in, concluding Al Nassr's impressive performance.
