OFFICIAL: Tottenham falls into the Premier League relegation zone

West Ham's crushing 4-0 win against Wolves in the early hours of April 11 triggered an earthquake, immediately dropping Tottenham to the 18th position on the league table.

Round 32 of the English Premier League began with an unimaginable script for London fans. In the earliest match, West Ham United fully capitalized on their opportunity by hosting bottom-placed Wolverhampton to secure all three points in the most convincing manner.

This result not only helped manager Nuno Espírito Santo's team escape the danger zone but also pushed the "Spurs" Tottenham into the relegation group for the first time in 17 years.

West Ham's 4-0 victory pushed Tottenham down to 18th place, trailing the safe zone by 2 points

At the Olympic Stadium, West Ham demonstrated remarkable efficiency. After being somewhat subdued in the opening minutes against Wolves, the turning point arrived at minute 42 when Konstantinos Mavropanos headed in to open the scoring. The second half was completely dominated by the home team as Taty Castellanos scored a quick double within just 2 minutes (minutes 66 and 68). Late in the match, Mavropanos capped off his outstanding performance with a beautiful volley, sealing the 4-0 victory.

This win propelled West Ham to 17th place with 32 points, pushing Tottenham down to 18th with 2 fewer points. This marks Spurs' most dismal milestone since January 2009. Notably, this tragedy occurred just before the debut match of new manager Roberto De Zerbi—who must now lead his squad to Sunderland's Stadium of Light under suffocating pressure to find an escape route.

For the first time since January 2009, Tottenham has once again fallen into the Premier League relegation zone

In the stands, West Ham supporters did not hesitate to loudly chant mocking songs about Tottenham's decline. From being 7 points behind the safe zone in January, the "Hammers" have revived strongly with 5 wins in their last 11 matches. Conversely, Tottenham's rock-bottom form has transformed them from a contender for a high position into a struggler fighting to stay up.

Former star Jamie Redknapp made a bitter assessment of the current situation: “In the relegation battle, you must play to your fullest and understand your strengths and weaknesses. West Ham achieved that. This result will shock other teams. Now, the managers in the bottom group, especially at Tottenham, are undoubtedly under immense pressure.”

While Wolves have almost secured their relegation spot with a streak of 18 away matches without a win, the survival battle between West Ham, Sunderland, and particularly Tottenham is heating up more than ever. Spurs are now forced to secure a victory at the Stadium of Light if they wish to avoid sinking deeper into this historic tragedy.
