Swiatek Ends Collaboration with Coach!

The biggest focus of this week's tournament is certainly the competition at the Miami Open. As the second stop of the North American Sunshine Double, this year's Miami event still draws a crowd of top players. Here, Polish star Swiatek, as the women's singles second seed, continues to hold her position in the lower half.

However, in her first match at Miami this year, she suffered a surprising loss to compatriot Linette with a score of 6-1, 5-7, 3-6. Throughout the match, although Swiatek led in winners with 35 compared to Linette's 22, she unfortunately committed 49 unforced errors. The sudden loss of touch and ensuing mistakes became key factors in the Polish star's reversal.

Regarding this defeat, Swiatek herself expressed great disappointment, bitterness, and a need to take responsibility, emphasizing that she learned valuable lessons from this match.

This loss also ended a series of remarkable records for Swiatek, including her streak of 73 consecutive WTA tournament first-match victories and 33 consecutive WTA 1000 tournament first-match wins. Meanwhile, Swiatek recently announced on her personal social media platform that she has officially ended her collaboration with coach Fissette.

From October 2024, when Swiatek ended her partnership with her previous coach and first teamed up with Fissette, until their official separation in March this year, Swiatek and Fissette worked together for about a year and a half. During this period, Swiatek achieved notable results, with the biggest highlight being her victory at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. Swiatek stated that Fissette helped her realize "one of the biggest dreams of her career" (winning Wimbledon).

Swiatek expressed her deep gratitude to Fissette for teaching her many things, describing this period as intense and challenging. "Thank you for all I learned during this time, both professionally and personally. Sincerely, best wishes to you."

Apart from the coach change, Swiatek indicated that the rest of her team will remain unchanged. She currently recognizes many issues and will announce her next plans at the appropriate time.

For Fissette, Swiatek became another top female player under his guidance. In the past, he has coached Clijsters, Halep, Azarenka, Konta, Kerber, Zheng Qinwen, and Osaka. Undoubtedly, he remains one of the most sought-after coaches in the tour.

“We once aspired for more together, worked hard for it, and shared important moments and valuable experiences. Iga, I now wish you good luck and success in your upcoming journey. I believe you can achieve it.” Fissette responded with these words regarding the end of their collaboration. Their parting was amicable. So, who do you think will be Fissette's next student?(Source: Tennis Home Author: Barbie)
