The 2026 WTA1000 Miami Open women's singles champion will be decided tomorrow morning Beijing time. World No. 1 Sabalenka, with a stellar 22-1 season record, will clash with the resurgent local favorite Coco Gauff at Hard Rock Stadium.

The finalists are well acquainted. In their 12 previous career encounters, each has won six, making it a deadlock. Their earliest duel dates back to 2020 at the WTA250 Lexington event—the first tournament to resume post-pandemic—where the 16-year-old Gauff battled through three sets, 7-6(4)/4-6/6-4, to defeat Sabalenka, who was then ranked No. 11.
Gauff initially led their head-to-head with a 3-1 advantage, adding wins at the 2021 WTA Rome and 2022 WTA Toronto events; Sabalenka countered with a victory at the 2020 WTA Ostrava. They met twice in 2023: Sabalenka won with a bagel at the WTA1000 Indian Wells; later in the season, Gauff snatched the US Open title from her at Flushing Meadows, claiming her first Grand Slam.
As their rankings soared and both cemented themselves among the elite, their six meetings over the past two seasons have all occurred in deep rounds of major events. Moreover, prior to last year's WTA Finals, whenever one defeated the other en route, she ultimately claimed the championship.

This week has been grueling for Gauff, playing four three-set matches in five days, including two comeback wins from a set down, draining her physically. However, in her semifinal against Muchova, she tapped into her peak form, cruising through in straight sets. Despite her lengthy court time this week and recent injury struggles, the competitive level she displayed is her best this season.
“I feel I'm improving, especially on the forehand, and I'm pleased with my performance throughout the event. I mentioned earlier that my training form was good, just waiting for the feel to truly click. Obviously not at absolute peak yet, but it's gradually coming together.” Gauff holds a 100% win rate in hardcourt tour finals so far (9-0). To maintain this record, she likely needs to target Sabalenka's second serve and keep unforced errors and double faults in check.
Gauff's Path to the Final
First Round: Bye
Second Round: 3-6/6-4/6-3 Cocciaretto
Third Round: 3-6/6-0/6-1 Parks
Fourth Round: 6-4/3-6/6-2 Cristian
Quarterfinal: 6-3/1-6/6-3 Bencic [12]
Semifinal: 6-1/6-1 Muchova [13]
Sabalenka's exceptional form this season speaks for itself. Her last loss of a set to anyone other than Rybakina dates back to the semifinals of last year's WTA Finals. Despite skipping the two major Middle Eastern events this year, Sabalenka still leads the WTA tour with a 22-1 record and a 95.7% season win rate.
As the defending Miami champion, Sabalenka has been dominant this edition, winning all five matches in straight sets, facing only one tiebreak in the second round. Her straight-set semifinal win over Rybakina vividly showcases her superb form, especially after saving match points to narrowly win last week. Serve and performance on key points will be crucial for her to secure this match and clinch the "Sunshine Double." She stated, “Long rallies, emotional clashes, offensive firepower, thrilling duel… This will be a tough battle. I'm really looking forward to meeting her in the final once again.”
