Djokovic withdraws! His 13-year consecutive participation streak ends.

The most anticipated event on the tour this week is certainly the Miami tournament, with the competition now approaching the final stage. The women's singles final will be contested between Sabalenka and Gauff. Sabalenka dominated Rybakina in the semifinals, triumphing over her once more following a tight victory in last week's IW final, bringing her season tally to 22 victories and only 1 defeat.

Gauff swept past Muchova in the semifinals with a double-bagel score, extending her head-to-head record against her to 6-0 while making her first career final appearance in Miami. Next, Gauff and Sabalenka will face off for the 13th time in their careers, with their previous encounters standing at an even 6-6.

The men's singles final lineup is Sinner versus Lehečka. As the tournament's second seed, Sinner's advancement to the final undoubtedly upholds the prestige of top-seeded players. He defeated Zverev in straight sets in the semifinals, extending his winning streak against the German star to seven matches.

Lehečka has emerged as a dark horse in this tournament. As only the 21st seed, he successively eliminated notable players like Fritz on his path to the final. In the semifinals, he decisively swept another dark horse, Fils, with a 6-2, 6-2 score. After earning 650 points and $610,000 in prize money, Lehečka's world ranking will at least reach a career-high No. 14, making him the fourth Czech male player in history to reach a Masters final.

Djokovic did not participate in this year's Miami event. As a seasoned veteran, he has actually only competed in the Australian Open and Indian Wells this season. After exiting in the fourth round at IW two weeks ago, he has temporarily no further tournament plans.

According to media reports, Djokovic has confirmed his withdrawal from this year's Monte Carlo Masters. Notably, he had participated in this event continuously for 13 years starting from 2011. With his confirmed absence, this consecutive participation record is now officially over.

It is reported that Djokovic's schedule for this year's clay season likely involves skipping Madrid and Rome, opting to directly enter the French Open in May.

Of course, Djokovic currently only needs to focus on his performance in Grand Slams. Undoubtedly, he is still striving for his next Grand Slam title. However, after competing in Indian Wells two weeks ago, he still set several new records, including achieving 420 Masters wins (the most in history).

Djokovic has repeatedly stated his goal to "win at least one more Grand Slam." Do you think he can achieve this ambition this year?Source: Tennis Home, Author: Barbie
